About Us How did is all get started? Let me reflect. Ms Dozer has always been good with construction. Her father is a building foreman and she had been around construction before. During the coolthaihouse project itself, she was good at pointing out and noticing things which were amiss in other building projects, for example corner cutting, sloppy workmanship, wrong materials, inexperienced workman. She would say 'look at that', at point something out. And normally she was right. Then an aquantance was doing some small house builds and the Ms. said, 'I'd like to do that'. And that formed the Ms. Dozer construction and rennovations business. It has been small and specific builds for friends up until about now when the Ms. is building some spec homes, so she has been bugging me to post and document the on-going project here.

Before going further I must give state that Ms. Dozer really has a good ability to manage building projects. She has a natural adversion to 'corner cutting' so we don't have any arguments on quality control. Another thing, she has a very good visual sense of what a house should be. Often times when Thai's are in charge of design there can be a 'box' effect and the house ends up being just being a bunch of little rooms everywhere with walls and doors. Have you noticed how 'euro' homes are designed - it is the 'open' feel. If you ask the Ms. to do a back of the envelope design it will come back in a very aesthetically pleasing configuration. Design considerations are similar, no, she has never suggested green carpet or painting the walls bright orange!
So how do I, Dozer, fit in to all of this? It is the perfect scenario for me. I get to look over Ms. Dozer's shoulder and act as the perinnial back seat driver, I get to practice my Thai with all the workers, I get to be the project documentarian and I also get to be the R&D department. I decided it was worth pursuring this part of the site to share what we've been working on and to help promote the effort. Sure, you might want to contact Ms. Dozer about a possible build or, at the very least have a visit to the photo album. |
